We're just finalizing our information pages for our 2 Annual Open Races for 2004, and I thought I would post the dates and initial details for those planning ahead.

The Hearst "Old Bird Classic" will be held
Sat., June 26 2004. - min. distance 640 km.
5000 Guaranteed, 3000 Ist, 1500 2nd, 500 3rd.
Entry fee:
Before 15 April is 60.00 (50 + 10 shipping)
Before 01 June is 85.00 (75 + 10 shipping) and
After 01 June is 110.00 (100 + 10 shipping)

Shipping 24 June, Strike-off 27 June - identical to last year

The Elk Lake "Blue Ribbon" YB Race will be held Sat., Sept. 11, 2004, min. distance 325 km.
5000 Guaranteed, Bands are 7.00 (5 + 2 adm. fee). 20 band limit until Mar. 01 2004
Changes for 2004:
1) Lost "Blue Ribbon" birds WILL NOT be substituted with other banded birds.
2) We are also hosting a "Blue Ribbon Auction Race" that will be flown in conjunction with the Blue Ribbon Race, summarized - the Auction birds will be eligible to compete equally in the Blue Ribbon Race too.
Shipping 09 Sept., Strike-off 12 Sept. - identical to last year

If you're that keen (maybe should I say crazy but I hate to insult a bud here?) to get your birds somehow up to our races, How could we possibly turn you away! We don't have a maximum distance figure listed for the races. You do have these Super Sonic long distance VanderPluckers don't you Billy? Hmmmm - I'm thinking you might have me on this one.

Note: I better watch what I say further- he could take me up on the offer and then what would we(more so I) do - Help me out here somebody, please before Billy says he and his birds will be there June 24!

Now all joking set aside, Billy, if you wish to participate in the Blue Ribbon race nothing stops you from buying bands and sending me up these squeakers and placing them in a loft(like mine or buddy Oscar's for eg.)a lot closer to the race point. We've done this before. I'm sure we can work out a deal!
Do you notice folks, how we have a way of not turning anyone away disappointed!

Time is running out on the early bird entry into the Stouffville/Cannington Hearst Open. Get your ticket within the next two weeks or pay a 50% increase in entry fees.

This is a great race that has been around for a number of years. Entries are a little slow this year. If you are interested in good long distance old bird racing, the club could use your support. Where else can you fly for $5000 guarrenteed for a $50 entry fee.
