For 2004 the EOC spring auction will be held this Sunday, May 2nd in Bowmanville.
Full details here:
http://www.easternontariocombine.com/EOC2004AUCTION.pdf
This is an auction not only of young birds, but of stock birds as well. It includes birds from several recognized lofts as well as Panorama Lofts birds that were shipped out before the quarintine. An excellent opportunity to get some quality birds that are not readily available.

Hi Jimm,
We cleaned up OK. We got our first Mac bird at 3:07 but it doesn't count. It has a dead band on it. (Had a lot of bands this year that allocate on the Express club set but won't read on the traps at home) Barry W said his club also had that problem this year.
Our auction birds went to the wrong race. The long one. The club guys were helping and as it is usually the longest race for the money birds, they sent them there. My fault for not watching closer. Honest mistake. We were the only ones in the club with birds for it. But the auction birds made it home OK. Did you get yours home?
Still missing 1 from the 2 EOC races.
Can't complain too much as we made enough (points) this year, in the pools/ auction races/ money races etc to cover flying fees for about 4 years and we still have Oscars' race, the 2nd part of Jim's EC race and the AU Can SRFalls race to go yet. lol. May give up regular flying and go the the points races. lol.

Yes I got my lone EOC auction bird..was my 4th..my Lift Lock auction birds were a little late but both home..
Have to wait to see how they compare with the others..not as many points as you but with still one race left from that point am satisfied...
Lucked out on the Millbrook One loft for 5th..and 1st in our Squeaker Special race so does give me a little to entertain the sweetheart..in the off season.
Still have Oshawa Gold Bond race in a week or so..them sit back and watch Marvin's birds capture the Gulf Classic for us...lol..fingers crossed..

JIMM,
YOU'LL NEED TO SEND YOUR OWN BIRDS OR EGGS.
GET THE EGGS HERE IN DECEMBER & I'LL TAKE CARE OF GETTING THEM HATCHED.
By Jimm (64.229.13.124 - 64.229.13.124) on Monday, September 17, 2007 - 01:15 pm: Edit
Marvin..sounds as if maybe you sent your birds to a Mother hen...lol..to finish them off??
Myron..as Mike has said usually tooo much of a hassle for us to bring birds or eggs in now..I am a believer of trying to keep things above board..right or wrong..
I have no problem with Marvin's birds..and thankfull to use them..
I am sure some birds are by far better than others..but as an old mentor used to say" there are more Good birds than fliers" and might have to agree.
Good young birds handled by a keen flier will beat slightly better birds handled by a regular flier..at least that is my thinking..old birds I do believe some can win despite the management..not all but some..
Young bird Pigeon racing broke down to good birds %? good managment %?..and a lot of Luck %..
Myself.. always ship with good expectations..maybe faulter..but until the clocks are read always a chance..lol

Myron..Hope that you and Mike have birds left..will be interesting to follow all the progress and maybe get some excuses from you...lol
just kidding..but Marvin and myself will be following your reports with keen interest..just the same

Now that the races are starting in the GHC the fun (hopefully) beings. I agree with Jim, that "the only time you don't have a chance is when you don't enter"....

hi jimm & marvin,
JIMM, I MEANT FOR NEXT YEAR. WILL YOU STILL BE USING MARVINS BIRDS THEN.???
MARVIN & JIMM I WILL OFFER NO EXCUSES FOR THE BIRDS ONE WAY OR THE OTHER BECAUSE I AM AS YOU ARE, JUST AN ON-LOOKER & NOT FLYING THEM, BUT HOPE OTHERS WILL DO WELL WITH THEM.
MY ONLY TIP FOR THOSE THAT WANT TO ENTER BIRDS HERE FOR NEXT YEAR IS THIS """""""" GET IN TOUCH WITH YOUR ** HANDLER ** NOW, BECAUSE IF NOT, YOU MIGHT BE OUT OF LUCK.
THERE ARE MANY WHO DON'T TAKE THE FULL ALLOTMENT & THEN YOU HAVE OTHERS THAT ARE ALWAYS FULL UP FROM ONE YEAR TO THE NEXT.
*** THEN, YOU HAVE THE OLDER GUYS WHO'S TIME IS LIMITED. ***
MARVIN, SAW JOSE GARCEL AT THE CLUB SATURDAY & HE SAID HE STILL HAD ONE OR TWO OF YOUR BIRDS.
DID YOU ALREADY BOOK WITH JOHN.?? IF NOT, IT'S TIME NOW.

Older guys like Art Hees?....LOL I thought most of the guys down there were retired and older.
By Myron (205.188.116.203 - 205.188.116.203) on Monday, September 17, 2007 - 09:34 pm: Edit
HI MARVIN,
NOT ALL ARE RETIRED & NOT ALL ARE AS OLD AS ART HEE'S.
IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHERE OLDER STARTS FOR YOU. I'M OLDER, BUT DON'T FEEL LIKE IT, BUT THERE ARE YOUNGER GUYS WHO TELL ME THEY FEEL LIKE 90 Y/O.
THERE WILL BE MORE YOUNG BLOOD COMING SOON FROM MIAMI PLUS SOME OLDER GUYS TOO.
SOME NEED TO WORK TO SUPPORT THEIR ADDICTION TO PIGEON RACING.
OTHERS HAVE THEIR WIVIES WORKING TO HELP THEIR ADDICTION.

MIKE THAT'S ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TO GET HER DOWN HERE & SHOW HER ALL THE THINGS THAT SHE CAN DO YEAR ROUND BECAUSE OF NO ** COLD OR SNOW **.
THAT WAY YOU'LL HAVE FREE REIGN TO FLY YOUR BIRDS WHILE SHE'S BUSY WITH WORK OR ALL THE GIRLS DOING THEIR THING.
THERE'S SOMETHING HERE FOR EVERYONE, NO MATTER WHAT YOUR INTERESTS ARE.
I CAN SEE JIMM GETTING DOWN HERE TOO, BECAUSE I'M SURE HE'D LIKE TO COMPETE AGAINST YOU.
WHAT DO YOUR LADIES LIKE >?? I'LL SEND YOU ALL THE INFO ON THEIR HOBBIES OR INTERESTS.

Hi Myron
I floated the idea a few years ago. Her response at that time was that when she feels that all purpose has gone out of her life and she is waiting for nothing else other than to die, she will agree to moving into an area with 200 pigeon flyers in a four block radius.
I took it from that, that it was a non-starter.

Anyone have any idea of how many birds there will be for the AU CAN race? I can't even remember how many bands we bought but I know some of them won't be going. One Chris gave away, 1 turned out white and the kids claimed it, 1 has a hurt wing. But I think we still have 8- 10 that will go. And as of last week Richard still had one of his 3 left.

Not to be the wet blanket, but not all the fliers that went back to work did it to support their hobby.
I believe I said it once and I'm going to say it again, "Do your homework, before you pack your bags for Florida".
Here are a couple web sites you all can check out:
www.hernando.tampabay.com (St. Petersburg Times)
www.hernandotoday.com (The Tampa Tribune)
www.wwjb.com/home.php (local talk radio station)
If you have the money and are looking to make a Real Estate purchase, and can handle the expense, than by all means this is the time. Builders are selling tens of thousands below cost and people are short selling all over the place. The Golden Goose has died. Read about it and listen in, it will open your eye's.
That's right people, I'm not a big fan of Florida.
Never was, but that's another story why I'm here, given my druthers I'd be in Texas.
Keep your bank account and marriage in tack, forget Florida. Great place to visit, but you don't want to live here.

Hi David,
Thanks.
Nothing in the forecast for Saturday to worry me yet. lol. We Love the nasty weather here. lol. We took our last race 10 minutes ahead of the next bird last week. I'm told by many that it was with a blow home. I will take them anyway I can get them. lol.
Good Luck to you and everyone flying it.

Can someone help me with that? Thanks, C

Sorry to hear that Bill. Weasles are deadly because they can get thru such a tiny hole. Hope you bred some worth replacements this year.

Hi Pete
I have no real intention of moving to Florida. I could not afford it and would not want the immigration hassles. Besides I am a proud Canadian. I do intend to spend some time in the winters down that way once I retire, so it sounds like we are on the same page. Nice place to visit.
Actually, based on the many trips I have made to Florida, I do really like the place. I have not been there to experience the summer heat and never plan to be, but it sure is a nice escape from the Canadian winters.

Bill..sorry to hear about your weasle problem..had one in a few years ago..in the race cocks..caught it and felt sick about it..
Worst ..a few weeks or so later a coon got in to same loft..felt a lot sicker..makes a person wonder what you are in this sport for..
Hopefully the loft is proofed better now..but there doesn't seem much chance to replace birds lost..just move on and look for some more jewels..
Wouldn't wish that on My worst enemy..
By Jimm (64.229.180.51 - 64.229.180.51) on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 - 03:06 pm: Edit
Connie..Ross is only about a 1/2 hour away I would think..
Takes any of them roads to get him to VanDorf..Myself I would come to Bloomington Road..turn north on Woodbine ave..don't cross the 400 highway..drive right into Vandorf..under traintrack ..hall is on the right..
Sure there are better directions..but is astart...lol
Good luck in the race
