NFC sent 739 and the B.I.C.C. sent another 450 - according to, Author : Steve, BHW - John Clements. See: http://users.pandora.be/carlo.gyselbrecht1/2003/daxint.htm for more info.
I thought we had all agreed a long time ago that there are great pigeons and great pigeon men in every country in the world.

739 against nearly 19,000 all going roughly the same way... - 19400 total - with warm sun on backs etc. most of the way if not all of it... again no Cold Channel waters to cross or the High regions... now 700 against 7000 Tom is 1 IN 10x's THAT TWICE IS 1 IN 20 NOW THE 5000 AGAINST THE IS 1 IN 7 AND ADD THAT TO THE ONE IN 20 EQUALS.
So Bob was wrong as you pointed out. a lot less favourable to to. Even if all 400 odd birds off the BICC were added to the NFC THEN THAT IS like Bobs says.... nearly 19 to 1 between 5 and 6 percent.

Crickey were were less than a 1/6th of what Belguim sent! 5000 odd.
Still enough is enough. most here understand the reality I'm sure. Even seen the 'Breeding' post via Tom which I again have to state is somewhat different from Belguim bred / ancesteries etc. If that MEANS that them being bred from HIS pau birds meant that flew near Belgim makes the Belguim orgin then I duff my hat to you. Plonker!

The last time I looked, first place was awarded to a single bird. When did that change? Sending more birds makes your winning bird fly faster or the birds of the competition fly slower? I am confused. Roly are you saying that the British fly a lottery system in that the one with the most beans in the jar has the greatest chance of getting drawn as the winner?

Roly. One more point, this is an eyesign string, why are you cluttering it up with International results? Don't they belong somewhere else, on a different string lioke? lol

I am just paying Nylon and big Robert back. for the countless times that they have and do do it.....
The reason that is mentioned is simple because it was mentioned that a bigger percentage is gained... but again it was raise that the % that is sent must also have a bearing on the overall % which is obvious I thought. Still I haven'y mention how big the winning Volicties are either. nigh 50 ypm.... and . well more later

what a funny way to look at international results guys LOL there are more than 2 countries involved !
as far as it comes to 'individual' results, the 2 fanciers from the UK did the best, placing 1st and 2nd ... so that will make them the 2 happiest fanciers of the race ... and they have every right to be so cause the fact that despite the favourable circumstances for the regions in the west, no other british fancier places in the top 100 and, correct me if i am wrong, only 6 other daybirds arrived in Britain, shows how difficult it is for the pigeons to cross the water at the same speed as flying over land. congratulations once more to the extraordinay achievement that these 2 birds did !
as far as a group result, the french kicked everyone else's ass big time :
sending 7% of the birds and gaining 50% of the top 100 spots ! but i am glad they were able to do such thing ... as in the other international races, they often have a hard time to take a lot of top spots ...
I think Belgium did average ... sending 26% of the birds and taking around 40% of the top 100 spots ... which is normal i think since the 2 other 'big' senders were in a very bad situation to take top spots. which brings us to them:
the netherlands, sending 48% of the birds and taking only 1 spot in the top 100 and Germany sending 12.5% of the birds and having none in the top 100 (while on the last international Barcelona race, they took 7 of the top 10 spots !) but they were in a position they couldn't win that weekend so i guess they will have to focus on national results ...

greetz,
D

PS: Roly, when i saw the distances the 2 British fanciers race, i was kind of surprised. By intuition, without looking at the western position of Dax in France, i would have tought they were going to have bigger distances ... do they both live in the extreme south ?

South West really, again that is an interesting obevation. one which was why Dax was put forward and accepted via the continentals. It was the Brits incidently. But yes many Flyer FLEW 200 - 300 OR MORE MILES FURTHER.
Further Big D. I think your summing up is about spot on. Me I'd fly 625 miles, again shorter than a lot. No I didn't enter. haven't entered many this season.

Sorry I meant 'It wasn't the Brits, but a few that wanted to entice us to particpate....'

It's the individual, rather than the point of origin. There are a lot of flag wavers out there, but we all know that "CANADIANS" are the best and everyone else is second, eh???
