Hi Myron.
I found your homepage under "GOOGLE" search EYESIGN. It's a great page. The best on the net.
In Denmark we are only 3000 members - so there are only written very few books about racing pigeon, and nobody is translated to English. For 20 years ago there was a really good eyesign-specialist here. He taught me everything about his way to look in the eyes. One day I'll send you his painting.
My problem today is that I think I know what I'm looking for in the eyes, but it's difficult for me to separate a breeder from a flyer.

Yours
Steen Haagh

Steen Haagh, you go careful there now! Seems no eyesign merchant knows what pigeon has the best eyesign... Seem this ole plodder will have to cast the loupe and tell them soon. BUT TELL you what. it is a racing pigeon.

Steen there is a glimmer of hope for you. Being a performance only flyer I will give the eyeball specialists their due. They are trying to find the golden calf without the effort of in the dirt racing. They are wrong more often than right, but who remembers their failures? They sure wont.Lets race. Bye BillyT

Should have read.... 'BUT TELL you what! It isn't a racing pigeon'.

Now when one takes the Eye photos, is this with the Sun behind the Pigeon and no Flash? Just need any advice for when my mate gets around to it.
I will have some done as promised. I will firstly just put the eyes up for comment. Then a photo of the birds and what they may or may not have done.
I will then invite you to pick any thoughts in regards of any merits you feel they may have. Breeder, Racer, Dual purpose, with any forecasts for the coming season. Most will fly three around the 500 mark. 20 for a first down to 1 if in top twenty. If out of top twenty then no score as they obviously wouldn’t warrant one.
One late bred won't be entered as it will have just two tosses and then a 150, and a 200 miler, then it will stopped.
Firstly who - if any one is interested, and would participate? However, I will in any case post for your comments.
I will also put up photos my loft and the compartments, and their sizes with my comments, whilst also inviting your comments.

Hi Roly,

We here at Steacy Family Lofts, don't use the sun when taking our pictures, as we like all the pictures to be the exact same degree of lighting. As the sun moves across the sky it will give different degrees of light which will change what you are seeing for colours in the eye.

Many people do use the sun and are happy with what pictures they get also. So it is another personal choice topic. LOL. I am sure someone who uses the sun will help out too as they may not do it this other way either.

Anyway I think if using the sun, you are to have the sun shining ON the bird from over YOUR LEFT shoulder. High noon is best to get the same degree of colour coming through the spheres (Iona, Stratus, Tropa, etc) to the planet. No need of a flash in bright sunlight. Do as many birds as you can until 15 after noon and the colours won't be changed as much. Try to have no distractions in front of the bird (even tree branches waving) or they will move their eye to see what moved and your pictures will be fuzzy. Have the camera all set up and ready. Take the bird from the shade (hidden in front of your body is good) to the bright sun and take the picture. If you wait too long, they will adjust their eye to the sun's strength, loosing you part of the eye in the picture as the pupil expands again compressing the Adapt/ CC/ Iris etc. For a good grading you need the full eye to be shown including the full outer circle all the way around the eye (if it's there, some birds won't have it but the good birds will). When you crop the pictures leave in the outside skin around the eye and a small bit of feathering so we can tell if they are hens or cocks. Please?

Could you put the birds' eye pictures on and no other details until we tell you what they did or can do? It adds more excitment while picking them 'blind' with no records. LOL.

I will look at your eyes. But what ever I say about them, use with a grain of salt please as I have only been studying eyes for about a year now. Heck I have not had pigeons much longer than that so maybe you better use 2 grains. LOL.

Looking forward to it.

JUST GOT THIS NOTE FROM BRAZIL.

I GUESS SOME PEOPLE ARE IMPRESSED.

Dear Myron
From Brazil, far from you and your wonderful land, I must confess my great admiration for your honest way of sharing your knowledge. As you have mentioned about eye sign being a subject with so many controversial debates, I myself believe that everything created is deeply conected, and if so, why not to have informations from one area expressed in another area of the same body or animal? In somewhere of this wonderful machines, our bodies, we surely have a window to understand what is taking place inside it. And no doubt, all the information avaible, should be in an area that could express a large variety of details, in colours, forms, and so on. Is there any other part of the body that can express these so well, as the eyes? If you think I am inspired about the subject, I must confess, you are the reason and inspiration. Please, if you have more about your stuff that could be shared with me, that would be of high value. Many thanks, and take care, a friend from Brazil,
Paulo Soares.

HI MIKE,

I'M HAVING A BLAST. WENT TO THE TAMPA CLUBS PICNIC YESTERDAY WITH MY WIFE & MY PARTNER LUIS & WIFE WHO NOW LIVES IN BROOKSVILLE. WE WERE INVITED GUESTS & HAVE BEEN TO THEIR LAST THREE MEETINGS BECAUSE LUIS WILL BE TRANSPORTING THEIR BIRDS FOR TRAINING. SPENT ALL DAY TUESDAY IN SPRINGHILL WITH BOB ROWLAND AT CLUB & VISITING A NEW MEMBER. THEY NOW HAVE OVER 200 IN GHC. FRIDAY WILL BE GOING TO THE MIAMI AREA WITH A FRIEND TO BUY BIRDS. I LOOK & HE BUYS. THE QUALITY OF PIGEONS IS GETTING MUCH BETTER IN MOST LOFTS THAT I'VE LOOKED AT. A FEW WEEKS AGO LOOKED AT A REAL GEM THAT WAS A GIFT TO A KID & ASKED HIM IF HE KNEW WHAT THE BIRD WAS WORTH IF HE HAD TO PAY FOR IT.. HE GAVE ME A FIGURE & I SAID,** ONLY IF YOUR LUCKY,** BECAUSE IT'S WORTH FAR MORE.
THIS IS A TEEN-AGER & HIS LOFT IS WORTH A SMALL FORTUNE ** ALL FOR FREE. A LUCKY KID FOR SURE.

Well am in Egypt for a week starting tomorrow... Will sort out photo's as soon as I get back.
We was going for 25 days, but I can't stand the sun, and heat, so have decided to Go for a week as it is Joyce's life dream to be on the nile for her 50th birthday. It is hot enough here, let alone going there this time of year.
Hopefully if we like it will go back for a prper holiday January... but not if I decide to mate the birds early.
No ned for Flash lights or oat I gather. Just have the Sun behind the Camera I take it!

HI ROLY,

THE STATES ARE HAVING A HEAT WAVE ALSO WITH TEMPS UP TO 112% F. ** HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR TRIP THERE, BUT MAYBE YOU'LL WANT TO COME TO FLORIDA IN DEC. FOR A FULL WEEK OF RACES THE FIRST WEEK WITH THE GHC & FLAMINGO.

IF YOU"RE LOOKING FOR THE RIGHT WAY TO TAKE PICS JUST FOLLOW THE SAME METHOD THAT I DESCRIBE IN USING THE LOUPE IN MY WEBSITE & YOU'LL HAVE NO PROBLEMS.
ANDY HAS TWO DIFFERENT METHODS, BUT I LIKE THE ONE SET-UP MORE THAN THE OTHER. THE OLD ONE WITH THE STAND & CUT OUT FOR THE EYE. I'LL POST IT WHEN I FIND IT.
UNTIL THEN, ENJOY & CHECK OUT THE POLOMA IN THAT COUNTRY.

Thanks. Yes seems a realistic simple and effective method that. Well come to think of it, it is tried and tested!
Me mate over the road, I've just help paint his Window frames... I put me foot on the bottom of the ladder, and drank me tea that Joyce brought out... Is also into Photograghy, and said he'll pop over later. Takes Weddings etc. again after a while out, and says he'll do them. More reliable than Greg who still hasn't got around to it since I asked and posted a such from way back.

It's also good to see Myron on this site again.
Will be interesting to see what is what when I get them upon here.

ROLY ,

THE ONLY THING YOU NEED TO ASK MATEY IS THAT HE HAVE A GOOD MACRO LENS OR SOMETHING THAT WILL TAKE A CLOSE UP AT 3/4 OF AN INCH I THINK.

THIS WAY YOU'RE GOING TO SEE THE WORLD IN THOSE GORGEOUS EYES.

GLAD TO BE BACK ROLY. IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME.

P.S. IS THERE A WAY TO HAVE YOUR E-MAIL ADDIE PERMANENT BY SAYING ** REMEMBER ME*** ????

Hi Myron

Glad to see you are enjoying life. I will be entering the GHC in 2007 and come down for the race. It is high time I paid a visit to Spring Hill to see pigeon paradise first hand.

HI MIKE,

IF YOU'RE SENDING BIRDS DOWN HERE, MAY I SUGGEST MY PARTNER AS YOUR HANDLER.?? HE REALLY KNOWS HIS STUFF & LIVES AT THE SHORT END,PLUS I CAN GET THE CHANCE TO KEEP TABS ON YOUR BIRDS.

I'VE GOT 6 IN THERE AT HIS LOFT THIS YEAR, BUT WAS A LAST MINUTE THING. NEXT YEARS ENTRIES WILL BE PUT TOGETHER BY ME TO MY OWN LIKING & WE'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS. I HAVE A NUMBER OF GUYS WHO WANT ME TO PAIR THEIR BIRDS, SO MY PICKS WILL COME FROM THESE.

AS FAR AS COMING DOWN HERE TO PIGEON PARADISE I FEEL THAT YOU WILL BE MORE THAN IMPRESSED WITH WHAT YOU SEE & WHO YOU SEE WHILE HERE.

ARE YOU STAYING WITH SOMEONE.??? THERE ARE SOME NICE PLACES FOR SALE IF YOU'RE EVER THINKING OF A PERMANENT MOVE.

NOW'S THE TIME TO THINK ABOUT IT. PRICES WAIT FOR NO-MAN.

HI ROLY,

I WANTED TO ADD THIS BEFORE , BUT THE SERVER WOULDN'T LET ME DO IT, SO HERE IT IS AFTER I HAD A LITTLE CHOW.
*******************
POST SCRIPT,

THE OTHER THING THAT MIGHT HELP TO TAKE BETTER PICS IS TO TRY & TAKE SOME AT AN ANGLE INSTEAD OF HEAD ON.

THE ANGLE IS SLIGHT & NOT SEVERE, BECAUSE THIS SOMETIMES WILL MAKE IT OUT OF FOCUS & NOT CLEAR.

BOTH FROM THE FRONT & BACK OF THE EYE & SEE WHAT YOU GET FOR BEST READING.

DOING THIS WILL SHOW YOU THE DEPTH OF THE EYE WHICH IS VERY IMPORTANT.

DON'T TRY TO TAKE ALL EYES THAT MOST THINK ARE THE BEST.

TAKE SOME OF THOSE THAT PEOPLE HAVE TOLD YOU TO MAKE SOUP WITH, BECAUSE THERE ARE SOME GEMS IN THERE.
