We have now - I don't - loft warming devices, heaters control statics etc. Great air ventilation / fans,,, etc.
Then we build flight pens/ averies etc so birds can enjoy the fresh air that is so important to them... or so one says.
What happens in winter.. they are locke up in a lot of cases.
It rains / snows etc. We - I don't - put shutters up.
It turns bitterly cold We - I don't - turn up the heaters, close all the vents and make them snug and warm! A paradise for any and every small bug, etc. going. Then the lights are extended to 12 hours etc. to con Spring is here... well I bet every parasite, desiese thinks so, in fact it's their heaven. (Then many resort to every known remedy to counteract the problems.
We sit in the house and turn heaters up, keep doors shut as much as possible etc. go out and get flu and such and Blame it on the weather.
We are in my oppinion destroying evry and all imunities systems going.
Well thats for starters.

HI ROLY.heated loft yes me do wood stove natural heat like solar warms the body right through.birds content lying on one wing.fans yes me do with filters that are changed every day.no dust no bloom even when birds are flying about. better for my lungs and theres.humidity runs about 11 to 25 percent bacteria dies so fast in dry conditions.no mites no bugs no lice and no meds for our friends.had three fellows visit the loft yesterday.amazed no small specks of dust in the air.this system is not with out error the one problem i have noted in six years of heat the hens and cocks for the second and third rounds are a touch slower to go down on eggs with the heat.20 below most here drop the feed and water and run to the house.me i put on a pair of shorts and tea shirt and enjoy its my way of going south for the winter.yesterday i moved 20 ybs to the yb loft all were so fat and plump felt like putting them in the roasting pan.i have oftened wondered if the set up is more for me than the birds.iam off to fill the wood stove before work.

ROLY spent some time yesterday on a brit site learning about this lung disease. see were many brit flyers with this problem are going to keeping there birds in rabbit hutches and its working well every thing is being done from the out side no dust or bloom for the flyers to inhale.each pair had there own hutch with bobs for trapping. brillant to say the least.better for the birds better for man.

I remember reading of a Belgian Champ who had 4 widowhood nest boxes on the side of his house - ALL 4 cocks were multiple 1st prize winners. Many roads lead to Rome !
