Yes Bill I believe that one could not imagine the sight without actually seeing it. I certainly hope to one day. Did you suggest your lady fancier sell a parrot chick and buy an e-timer?

Hi Mike...The husband was the fancier not her they do use eclock's some times the one guy we went to see was testing one out and he could'nt understand why it didn't work properly when the bird walked right passed it, He had it in one corner of the landing board and his landing board was about 4 to 5 feet wide. The few people i talked to in the big up north combine thought it was a good thing and they hoped it would be used some day yet other's down in the midlands didn't like the idea at all. bill butterfield

I watched them on allotments in Sheffield Bill and it's something else to witness. I don't think I could live with the thought of my birds being a mile or so away from where I'm at day and night???? and only a pad lock protecting them from kids and anyone else etc. No way, I'd have heart failure just worrying about them. On race day it's an experience to see these guy's getting their birds in. That also would finish me with pigeon racing but, I admire and respect those people for continuing to persue their interest under such circumstances, but not me.

Bob that is just one of the reasons that ET on the allotments would / could be impractical ... unless you can set it up each time you go there!

Roly, yes, you could set up the Unikon each time you go to the allotments. You could make the trap so the antenna would slide in and out of the trap easily and quickly and then plug it into the Unikon and use a 12 volt car battery for power.

Yes Billy I have a question for you. Sorry it's not about pigeons though? Have you ever done that under the ice thing at the Artic circle??? I watched a movie about it the other day, and though I fear nothing on this planet, I think that would see my under wear change color.

Actually we asked him about that Bob... Said he has done but takes no store at all in it ... in fact if honest the reverse is true ... Sorry.
| By Mikev (142.46.55.92 - 142.46.55.92) on Sunday, October 05, 2003 - 09:37 am: Edit |
Hi Roly. If this fellow actually believes that "the reverse is true", that would mean that he selects his birds for those with the poorest eyesign, since they are his best birds. If he states that the "reverse is true" and he does not select for the birds with the poorest eyesign, he is either a spewer of untruths or a fool, and fools don't generally win out of turn.

Mikev I am suprised at you . What you like,
I meant as most will have understood it, that that No he's Not a Believer ... more the Opposite. A NON BELIEVER BIG TIME!

Hi Roly. That is not what Bob was asking, he was asking if he knew the theory, not if he believed in it, big difference. Anyway, I now see your point.

To bring a grader into your loft to pick and choose who to keep and who to cull is the folly of all time. If you dont know the answers before hand you should be racing cockroaches. Have the same opinion of the eyesign game. But who ever said I was rational? Lets race. Bye BillyT

Hi Mike...I talked to the same guy and if my memory is correct i think is words to me were i know of eyesign but i don't use it to pair my birds i pair on performance and pedigree of past generations, And it seemed to be working for him, Are you going to the convention next week end if so see you there. bill butterfield

Not to drag this thing on but, you both would be amazed at the amount of guy's who say NO to people when asked if they follow or believe in it. They reckon it's easier to say No, than to explain what it is that they look for??????
I seldom have or do meet a top Breeder or Flyer who doesn't use it in part in one way or another. These days it's regarded by a large majority as being an integral part of a "good" pigeon, and this is quite simply the result of it having been proven beyond any doubt all over the world by it's exponents. But like the old saying goes. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. There are still those who refuse to believe we landed on the moon. And the beat goes on.

Billy, Regardless of what you think or believe, not all those who persue this sport were born like you were, with all the knowledge required to be successful at it. Or with a Parent or Grand Parent ready to show them.
They are the poor unfortunate ones who have to stoop to the level of seeking help from those who they believe do have the know how, and will guide and teach them what to do and why etc.
I can't understand it but 99.9% Of new commers have this lack of pigeon knowledge problem when they first start off???????????????????????????
And of course there are those experienced flyers who don't want the novices to learn anything because they love to continually beat them in races so as to inflate their own ego's and race records.
No bloody wonder we're having trouble attracting young people to join us in this sport when they hear attitudes like your's you self-righteous prick.
WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE THEM DO? STAY OUT OF FLYING UNTIL THEY ARE KNOWLEDGEABLE ENOUGH TO WIN.
What about those juniors who have adults helping them, (helping nothing, they fly the birds for them) why shouldn't they be handicapped so that the real true novices trying to do it on their own stand a chance now and then. Get real Billy. You're way out of line this time.
What's the old saying about living in glass houses and throwing stones??????

I will agree in part that there is some truth in what Bob says regarding . '
I seldom have or do meet a top Breeder or Flyer who doesn't use it in part in one way or another.''
But I have found this to be in relation to the colour .. IE yellow / green eye etc. for breeding and keeping the 'Colours' different'. But . the beat goes on and Yes I am one that also firmly believes we didn't land on the moon!

A grader is not a short cut to success, Bobo. Flying the races and selecting your pigeons that are successful and adding pigeons from successful flyers is. Any other approach is like asking the tooth farie to grant you a largess, not working for it. You cannot refute my premise, that success comes from work and good common sense. Any other theory is just a fart in the wind soon disipated when the wind changes. You can hand some people a golden turd and they will eat it. Not the ones that are here for the long haul. For example I offerred to teach a new flyer how to feed for the races. Her response was that her pigeons were happy. I said I am glad. Noting that her first bird from last weeks 200 was 275 in the club. Which by the way both A and B were won by old Billy. Lets race. Bye BillyT

Billy,
Helped a fancier back in 1995 from Northern Utah that had been racing for 4 or 5 years he had his best season that year. And has gone on to be the best fancier year in and year out since then in their Club, Combine and also in the the National Awards. He was very gratefull and thanked me.
Well this year he has been helping another fancier in my own Club, Combine that has raced since back in 1993 or 1994. Well since our 1st 253 mile race he was 1st,2nd,3rd,4th, Club / Combine I was 6th,8th,9th,10th Club / Combine. Then @ 167 miles he was 1st-8th,12th,41st Club / Combine he had 10 birds out of 20 sent in the top 41 birds, I was 9th-11th,13th-19th Club / Combine I had 15 out of 20 sent in the top 40 birds. Then @ 224 miles he was 1st-4th Club / Combine and he had 9 in the top 35 birds. I was 5th-10th Club / Combine and had 11 in the top 31 birds. Then @ 253 miles he was 1st-4th Club / Combine and had 7 in the top 37. I was 6th-9th,14th Club / Combine and had 10 in the top 36.
Well bottom line is according to me I'm getting my butt kicked but with pretty much my own system. I am the first to congratulate him and if not at the knock off I call him and congradulate him and tell him to keep it up.
Only consolation is that I have 1st- 4th, 6th,7th,8th Combine Champion Bird 1st-3rd their isn't another bird that can touch them. And we are tied for Champion Loft. He has me on Ave Speed by less then 3 min.
And this weekend is our last race from 340 miles it will seperate the men from the boy's.
Hope to get him on this one it is our GSLC CLASSIC RACE also. Have won this race 4x in a row, then 1995 and again in 2000.
Good Luck to you Billy and everyone that is still racing.
Mike "TOP GUN LOFT"
